Staff LPN must have the physical, emotional, & technical abilities to:

Work under the direction of the Director of Nurses

Maintain knowledge of each resident from his/her biosketch and family interview

Participate in Resident care plan meetings

Accept & verify resident medications delivered from pharmacy

Verify receipt of physician orders for medications and other treatments

Administer medications per physician's order

Clarify physician orders as needed by calling the physician or his/her designee

Ensure all medication documentation is current and correct, including medication administration forms, physician orders, change of dosages, etc.

Ensure medication room is completely stocked with all required continuous, PRN, over-the-counter, and other medications as ordered by the physician

Ensure medication room is secured at all times

Follow facility policies regarding disposal of medications

Communicate, as needed, with resident family members and other legal representatives in a courteous, professional manner

Supervises and gives direction to aides
